Track and Field
The Track and Field season runs from late April to the end of July. In April, May and June the Vancouver Athletics Association (VIAA) clubs host several track meets at various locations on Vancouver Island. Athletes, 9 years and older (age as December 31 of year of competition) may compete. Most events are offered at these meets. Athletes may also compete at meets on the mainland. In July, there are BC and Canadian Championships in which many of our athletes have competed.
Training for the Track and Field season is all year round. In the fall we organize training for the cross country runners to maintain conditioning. In March the training moves outdoors to the track at Parkland School in Sidney.
