Track and Field consists of a number of events open to the various age groups based on age and level of development, including:
The Track and Field competition season runs from late April to the end of July. Some athletes train year round. In the fall we offer a cross country program that helps runners maintain their conditioning, in March we offer pre-season T&F training, with an emphasis on running.
We encourage athletes to attend meets, if they enjoy the meet environment. It is a great way to forge deeper friendships, get personal bests and gain valuable life skills. In April, May and June Vancouver Island track clubs host a series of weekend track meets at various locations on the Island. Athletes 9 years of age and older, as of December 31 of the year of competition, may compete in these meets for one or both days. Athletes may also compete at meets on the mainland, culminating in the BC and Canadian Championships in the summer. Dates and locations for the Island Series and a number of other events of interest to club members are listed on our Competition Schedule page, while a complete list can be found on the BC Athletics website.
