Masters
Masters athletes are those athletes who are 35 years and older, and athletes 55 years and older are listed as 55+. Currently, Peninsula Track has 10 or more masters and seniors, including two in their seventies and one in his nineties.
The group provides coaching in sprints. distance running, throws and jumps, both for recreational athletes and those preparing for local, provincial and national Masters competitions. Competitions include the Canadian Masters Championships, the BC Masters Championships and in the BC 55+ Games.
In addition many run in various road races and cross country runs, ending with the BC Open Cross Country Championships and the Canadian Cross Country Championships both held in the late fall.
Practices are held on Saturday morning at the Parkland track in Sidney, starting around 9:30, and, depending upon individual wishes, in conjunction with the Tuesday and Thursday club training sessions.
