Track Rascals

The Track Rascals program introduces young persons to the basic movements of all sports i.e. running, jumping and throwing. It is particularly important for 6 to 8 year olds to do this if they wish to pursue a sport of any type when they get older as this is the age range in which large body movements and coordination are being developed in the human body.

Parent participation at the Track Rascals sessions is greatly encouraged. You too can learn about track and field by helping out.

Where: Blue Heron Track, located next to Parkland Secondary School
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM, with the start and end dates for 2020 TBD.

History of the Program

In 2001 the club initiated a program for 6 to 8 year olds called the Track Rascals program.  The purpose of this program was to introduce younger persons to the sport of athletics in a friendly and non-competitive manner.  The emphasis is on having fun and developing physically, but at the same time the participants are shown some of the basic aspects of track and field.

Following this exploratory program in 2001 under Dan Daniels, Pen Track’s first full Track Rascals program ran for 5 weeks from April 2-May 2, 2002.

In following years the program has run for 45 to 60 min on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month of April.

The Peninsula Track and Field Club owes a great debt of thanks to Dan Daniels who was the driving force in setting up the program and developing it for 8 years.
