Zone 6 Team in Athletics for the BC Summer Games

Substitutes: A number of athletes who did not make the team have had their names submitted as possible substitutes to replace team members who may have to withdraw before the games due to illness or injury. Although the probability of being asked to replace a team member is small it has happened in previous years. Athletes on the substitution list will be informed that they are on the list by EMail or telephone in a day or so.

The Trials for Track and Field Athletes were held at the Garriock Memorial Meet

June 7 and 8, 2008 in Duncan

Information on the Garriock Meet

Results for Midgets and Pentathlon Results

After the end of the meet a selection meeting was held at which a team of 36 athletes from Zone 6 was chosen to go to the BC Summer Games. The Provinical coordinator is now processing the results from the other 7 zones in the province and if there are vacancies in some of the events then additional athletes may be added to the Zone 6 team. These are called wild card placements. If you were not chosen in the first round, you may be chosen as a wild card. This process will take about a week as it is dependent on results coming from other zones. When the team list (including wild cards) is submitted to the BC Games Society, a few extra athletes are added as substitutes. They are not part of the team at that time, but if a team member has to withdraw due to illness, injury or for other reasons, then an athlete on the substitute list may be asked to replace them and they will become part of the team.
