73 Athletes competed in the Throws meet
As of yet our throwing meet is not on the list approved by the BC Athletics JD committee where performances are considered for inclusion on the Top Ten list. In future we hope to have it added to the list.

53 Athletes competed in the Pentathlon meet
Since this is an informal meet for introducing athletes to a pentathlon competition, I have included all athletes who did at least one of the pentathlon events but did not do all for whatever reason. They have been assigned a zero for those events not completed. At the BCJD Pentathlon championships some of then would not have placed. The rules state that an athlete must start each of the five events to be considered for placing.
Two athletes in the 1992 girls had the same total. The IAAF rules on multievents state that in the case of a tie in the total, the athletes with more events with higher points than the other gets the nod. If it is still a tie then the athlete with the highest number of points in a single event wins. If still a tie then they go to the second highest number of points in a single event and so on. I actually had to look that up in the IAAF manual before I made the assignment. Jade had more points in four of the five events than Haleigh so she is first. Haleigh almost caught her in the total by running a much better 800m. One second faster and she would have got a couple of more points. Learning to race to get as good time as possible and not pay any attention to the other athletes is hard.

Some of the pentathletes did other throwing events as well. For the 1990 to 1993 ages they did the regular shotput competition separately from the pentathlon shotput.
For the 1994 to 1996 age ranges the two shot competitions were combined. The combined event was scored as a regular competition for all athletes and the performances for the pentathletes were used in the pentathlon competition.
