VIAA Throws Pentathlon Meet – Sunday, May 25, 2008

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (As of May 6, 2008) :

All Throwing Events:

Athletes competing in the pentathlon must have FIVE stickers (one for each event) labelled with their name, club, YoB, Gender, the word pentathlon + event, and Island ID no. (Island clubs only)
You must START in each of the five pentathlon events to be allowed to continue and given a total score.
Since we have no idea as to the number of athletes participating in the throws pentathlon the following schedule is very tentative and may be changed as we find out the number of participants.
This first draft has all the men competing at the same time and all the women one half hour later in each event. If numbers warrant we may have to split the groups into two and may have to change the order of some of the events although we would prefer not to do so. The current order is the one which is the official order for the weight pentathlon.
NOTE FOR ELITE THROWERS IN THE HAMMER AND DISCUS: We have modified our throwing cage so that the left hand 1/2 of the landing sector goes out for more than 85 meters. Then a hilly , bushy area begins to encroach on the landing area so that down the right hand line there is clearance out to only 55 meters. In the right hand far end of the sector implements disappear into the bushy area making it impossible to measure accurately even if we can find the hammer or discus. Therefore, if you want a measured distance over 55 meters you will have to make sure your implement lands down the left hand 1/2 of the sector.
