1) Note from Brian Foan added on May 16:

In Dave Weicker's absence we have been unable to find anyone who will bring the Finish Lynx to Nanaimo, set it up and operate it. Accordingly the sprints and hurdles at the Elwood Wylie Memorial Meet will be hand timed. This will be ably performed by the VIAA timing crew but not acceptable as qualifying times for provincial and national teams. Of course, middle distance and field performances will still be eligible.

2) Notes from the Meet Director, Brian Foan ( befoan@shaw.ca ) on April 27, 2005

A couple of experiments this time:

In order to allow as many of our younger athletes to participate in the relays, we're taking a one hour relay break each day in the field schedule.

To make up the time loss and to allow mainland visitors time to catch a ferry at a reasonable hour, we will operate both our discus and shot put circles as well as two high jump pits. We'll use the second horizontal jump pit for long jumps when it is free of the triple jumpers. The clubs officiating at these stations should be sure to have enough bodies on hand. Javelin is the only event we can't double up on so we'll rely on the Oceanside team to move this along as quickly as they can.

I've also tightened up the track schedule to eliminate dead time. Expect a very brisk meet!
