and Zone 6 Summer Games Trials

Location:        Cowichan Sportsplex, Duncan

 

Directions:     Turn east off Hwy 1 onto Beverly Street (Canadian Tire on corner)

                        Turn right on Chesterfield (across from school)

 

Parking:          One small lot by field hockey boxes, small lot between track and ball fields                  and large lot behind ball fields, access past the complex.

 

Facilities:       Rubberized 8 lane track - maximum 6mm spike

                        Washrooms and Concession

 

Zone 6 Team Selection:       A meeting will be held in the registration building immediately following the final event on Sunday for Zone 6 team selection.  All interested coaches and parents are invited to attend.

 

 

Registration:  Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m.    Sunday begins at 8:30 a.m.

 

This is a sticker meet. Stickers are mandatory.  Please have a sticker for each event for each athlete with athlete’s name, year of birth and club name.  No pre-registration is needed except for the Summer Games Trials part of the meet.  Cheques are payable to CVAC.

 

Meet Fees:    Unlimited Entry to events.  Two days - $17.00; Single Day - $12.00

All competitors MUST be BC Athletics members (club, school or individual membership).

 

Unregistered athletes will be charged an extra $3.00 per weekend to cover Day of Event membership.

 

 

 

Coaches Meeting:  Saturday, June 7th10:00 a.m. at the finish line

 

Start Times:               Saturday, June 7th – 10:30 a.m.

                                    Sunday, June 8th9:00 a.m.

 

                        Check the attached schedule for event times.  Start times listed are

                        approximate. Event times may be moved up 1/2 hour before listed

                        time so please listen for announcements.

 

Events:           Field Events will be limited to 3 attempts only for 9-13 age groups.

                        For midgets and older, 8 finalists in the combined group will get

                        the 3 additional attempts. 

 

Track Events will be run oldest to youngest, girls first then boys.

 

Wheelchair events will be held first for track events followed by Summer Games trials events.

 

All track events will be Timed Finals except Midgets, where there will be heats and finals for the 100m, 200m and sprint hurdles.

 

All Midget athletes who wish to qualify in the Pentathlon will compete in the 5 scheduled events and points will be calculated accordingly.

 

 

Electronic Timing:  Provided by BC Athletic officials.      

 

Officials:         This is a Vancouver Island Series meet and is sanctioned by

                        BC Athletics.  Club officiating assignments have already been set.

                        If a Club has difficulty meeting their assignment or will not be in

attendance, please contact the Meet Director well ahead of the meet to   make alternate arrangements.

 

Age Categories:       All athletes will compete by year of birth.  Some categories may be

                                    combined for competition purposes but awards will be made by

                                    individual age classification.

 

Awards:          Ribbons will be given out for 1st to 8th place.

 

Results from this Meet will be posted on the Peninsula website.  If you do not wish your child’s name to appear on a web site please do not enter him or her in this Meet.

IMPORTANT NOTE

 

All athletes wishing to try out for the BC Summer Games team must

preregister and pay for their individual events. Please check out the

separate Summer Games file for complete registration information

 and forms which must be completed and handed in before

the registration package can be picked up.

 

Only midget athletes born in 1993 and 1994 are eligible to compete

 in the BC Summer Games.  There are no exceptions.

 

All athletes wishing to be on the Zone 6 teams must attend the

zone trials meet or they will not be considered for selection.
