ENTRY FEES

$6.00 per event for Junior Development athletes [1996 to 1990]

 

$8.00 per event for Juvenile and older athletes [1989 and older]

 

Late entries or substitutions at the meet will be $12.00 per event.

 

 

 

Day of Event school age BC Athletics membership @ $3.00 per person.

       

VIAA Clubs please add $1.00 per athlete for VIAA Series Awards.

 

Cheques are to be made payable to the Victoria Track and Field Club.

 

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

All entries must be received no later than 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th, 2005.

 

All entries received after this time will be counted as late entries.

 

Changes to original entries will be counted as late entries after this date.

 

 

E-MAIL ENTRIES

Clubs are welcome to e-mail or fax in their entry forms and then pay at the meet.

 

Payment is due when the clubs pick up their registration packages. 

 

Vancouver Island Athletic Association member clubs may obtain a line of credit and pay for their entries at the end of the meet.

 

 

CLUB PACKAGES

Registration packages will be available in the main press box at the top of the covered stadium beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 14th and not before. 

Large groups are asked to pick up the complete package and pay for entry fees at one time.

 

 

MEET RULES

ATHLETICS CANADA and IAAF rules and regulations will apply at this meet.  BC Athletics Junior Development rules and regulations for championship meets will be followed wherever applicable.

 

 

AWARDS

Victoria Track and Field Club medals for first, second, and third place finishes.

 

Victoria Track and Field Club ribbons for fourth to eighth place finishes.


 

GENERAL MEET INFORMATION

 

 

AGE CATEGORIES

Junior Development athletes will compete in single age categories from 1996 to 1990 [JD 9, JD 10, JD 11, JD 12, JD 13, JD 14 and JD 15]. 

JD 9 and JD 10 athletes [1996 and 1995] will compete together for field events but will be scored separately for awards.

Midgets [1990 and 1991] will compete together for field events but will be scored separately for awards.

 

1989 and older athletes will compete together in an OPEN category but will be scored separately [Masters 1965 and older; Seniors 1966 to 1985; Juniors 1986 & 1987; and Juveniles 1988 & 1989]. 

Masters compete as a single group as we are not able to offer 5-year age categories for awards.

 

High School athletes must compete in regular age class categories except for hammer and hurdles. Please register High School athletes by their year of birth.

 

 

SCHEDULE    

Due to the numbers of participants at this meet we will follow all starting times for track events as listed in the published schedule of events.  Any changes to the field event schedule will be listed in a revised schedule available at the meet. 

 

Please make note when registering your athletes that our field event schedule is extremely tight and we will not hold up any field events for athletes participating in other events.  Have your athletes check over the schedule before registering in this meet.

 

 

FIELD EVENTS

Due to the large number of entries in field events in the younger age classes those events will be limited to three attempts for each athlete up to the midget age level.  The top eight midgets will be permitted an additional three attempts.

 

Open Category athletes will be given six attempts each at all field events.

 If entries are high, then each athlete in the Open events will have four attempts.

 

 

HAMMER

Please note that Hammer is a restricted event as it may have to be held at the Mt. Douglas Secondary School site.  Only High School and Open categories are being offered. There are no JD hammer events this year.

 

 

 

SPIKE LENGTHS

The maximum spike length allowed on this track is 7mm.

 

 

TRACK RESTRICTIONS

The infield is out of bounds at all times as the infield is used for competition.  Please use the main entrance to the stadium and walk around to the finish line seating from the flagpole end of the track.  Please observe all restricted areas.

 

 

EQUIPMENT

Equipment will be provided by the Victoria Track and Field Club with the exception of pole vault poles.  Personal equipment must be checked and weighed in the equipment shed under the electronic scoreboard at least 1 hour before the start of the event.  Contact the meet director if you need to locate the official to weigh your equipment.


 

MEET RESULTS

Copies of the meet results will be posted on the Peninsula Track and Field Club Website [pentrack.org] as well as through a link on the BC Athletics website at bcathletics.org. Individual club results will be sent out via e-mail.

 

Please note that all athletes’ names will appear on a website.  Please advise us if you do not wish your child’s name to appear.

 

 

UNIFORMS

School and club team uniforms must be worn during all competitions.

 

 

TRACK EVENTS

All events on the track will start with the Open Age Categories first at the posted times.  JD athletes will compete following the Open Events in order from oldest to youngest with girls first.

 

 

WHEELCHAIR EVENTS

Wheelchair events will go in the following order with women first, then men:

T 54, T 53, T52 and T51 combined.

 

Categories may be combined if numbers are low but each category will be scored separately.

 

 

TIMED FINALS

All events offered are timed finals except for the 100 metre events which will have heats and finals for all age categories where 9 or more athletes are registered. 

 

All wheelchair events are timed finals.

 

 

BLOCKS

Starting blocks are supplied for all athletes, midget [14 and 15 years] and older.

 

 

LATE ENTRIES

Late entries will only be possible if space exists in a heat or timed final.  All late entries will be charged if accepted after 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th, 2005.  Additional late entries will be accepted in the main press box during the meet at the discretion of the entry chair.

 

 

RACE NUMBERS

Numbers will be assigned to all athletes and must be worn during all competitions.  Track events from 100 to 400 metres and relays will have numbers on the back.  Track events 800 metres and longer will have numbers on the front.  Field events numbers may be worn on the back or the front.

 

 

STARTING HEIGHTS

Starting heights for all pole vault groups and for juvenile and older high jump events will be determined by the athletes entered in the competition.  Starting heights for JD high jump categories are as follows:

HIGH PERFORMANCE RACES

There will be a series of High Performance Races on Saturday evening.  HP athletes interested in entering these events must submit their times to victrack@islandnet.com  and they will be notified if their entry has been accepted. 

 

Brent Fougner at bfougner@uvic.ca will coordinate entries for these events.

 

Races will be:  1500 metres [women and men]

                       800 metres  [women and men]

                       5000 metres [men only]

 


 

 

CONCESSION

The concession will be open during the meet and will be staffed by members of the University of Victoria athletics department.

CAMPING

No overnight camping is permitted within the University of Victoria boundaries.  Campus Security will patrol the campus and will remove any groups camping on site.

 

FUN RELAYS

50 metre fun relays are offered for family members of all ages.  There is no charge for this event.  Just come to the start line and run!

 

COACHES’ CHALLENGE

There will be 50 metre coaches’ challenge on Sunday.  Anyone may enter their club or school coach in this event.
