The first mini-meet hosted by Vic Track and Pen Track,

was held on Saturday, March 12 at Oak Bay High School Track.

The weather was fantastic with 22 athletes and 15 adults having a great time.

Experienced athletes had a chance to improve their performances while new athletes were able to experience what happens at a regular meet.

There were 100m sprints, followed by long jump and turbo javelin events, then the meet finished with an 800m run.

Most athletes tried three events with some doing all four.

At each event, detailed explanations of the procedure were given to the athletes and parent volunteers so that they understood what was expected of them at a regular meet.

Each athlete was given a participant ribbon and a scoring card which allowed them to record their performances.
