Throws Clinic #3 -- Sprint/Hurdles Clinic #1

Fifty plus athletes! and 10 plus Coaches in attendance. Cool and showery but nice when the sun was out. Soup, buns, hot chocolate, etc. prepared by Christine Morfitt. Many thanks to Tony Dickson, John May and all the other Comox Valley Cougars who did such a great job in organizing and running this clinic.

Schedule:

1) Warmup exercises done by the athletes in attendance (30 min) with coaches observing and discussing

2) Split into several groups for sessions before and after lunch:

  • a) Discus and Hammer(John Root)
  • b) Shot (John May)
  • c) Sprints and Hurdles (Tony Dickson)
  • d) Javelin (Graham Morfitt)
  • all with asssistance from some senior athletes

3) Lunch followed by talk on sprint exercises as an aid to running and throwing (45 min).
