On behalf
of Jacki Eng and myself, I would like to welcome everyone back to a new
season. Last year was a very successful year for our athletes and our
club and we hope that this year will be as successful and enjoyable for all of
our athletes.
Our club is
a volunteer organization and we need every family to be involved throughout the
season. We would like to thank you for your support last year at most of
the events and we hope that this year we will have even more volunteers. We
require your assistance at all of the meets, especially our own.
All
meets are run by parent volunteers and each club has a specific task for which
they are responsible. Our club duties are the long jump and timing. If parents don’t
show up to run an event that event will not happen. We try to schedule parents to work an event
when his or her child is jumping but sometimes we still need to cover an event
when no-one from our club is participating. It takes 4 people to run a long
jump session smoothly and we generally need to provide 3 timers. At our own
meet we need everyone to be involved as there are many jobs to be done during
the 2 day event.
Liz Ball,
our volunteer coordinator will be requesting assistance from every member.
She will be organizing phone parents to help with the task of contacting each
member before the meets and it is imperative that you respond to her calls or
email even if you can’t help with that particular event so we know in advance
who will be volunteering. We are including a list of events that the club has
lined up for next season so that you can mark your calendar in advance and keep
the dates open for track and field. Please understand that we need your
involvement to help the season flow smoothly and allow our athletes to continue
to participate in the many meets available. If you have any questions
concerning volunteer duties, please feel free to contact myself or any
executive member.
We have had
a few parents step forward to offer assistance with coaching. (THANK YOU)
We can never have enough coaches so we welcome anyone else who may be interested
to step forward. The club will help to organize clinics and pay for any
coaching clinics that are applicable.
We would also like to invite you to attend our
AGM on November 30 at
Sincerely,
Nancy
