CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING
| During the winter months, Peninsula Track focuses on training for Cross Country racing. The Vancouver Island Athletics Association (VIAA) NO LONGER HAS A CROSS COUNTRY SERIES. But Pen Track still holds a small cross country race in October. In addition, Peninsula Track athletes compete in the various school cross country series. In 2011, The BC Cross Country Championships were be held in Aldergrove on October 29, 2011. |
Club Practices
1) JD's - Tuesdays and Friday, 4:30-6:00, this is for athletes in grade 3-6
First practices of the season: Tues, March 13 and Friday March 15 - we'll have a one-week break for Spring break and then start again Tues, March 27
Coaches:
Tues: Brenda, Karen, Michael, Andrew and Maria
Fri: Brenda, Jack, Andrew, Maria, Kim and Courtenay
2) Ravi's Middle Distance group - Tues/Wed 5-6:30, Fridays at 4:00
This group is for middle distance runners age 12 and older who are willing to commit to 3 practices a week.
3) Mette's Power and Speed group - Tues/Wed 5-7, Fri 4-6
This group is for athletes in grades 7, 8 and 9 who are interested in sprints, hurdles, long jump and highjump and are willing to commit to 3 practices a week.
(Andrew will take over for 6 weeks from April 3 to mid-May)
4) Daniel and Tamara's Parkland/Pen Track Highschool group - Mon/Thurs 3:30-5
This group is for highschool athletes interested in training twice a week in preparation for the highschool track and field meets in April, May and June.
5) Danny Daniels Masters/Seniors group - Saturday mornings, 10-1
This group is for masters and seniors athletes working on sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws.
