Letters from Karen MacEwan, Pen Track Coaching Coordinator

Information for the coming Track Season, 2010

Just a reminder that two JD groups begin practices March 15.:

Mon/Wed JD's aged 8-11 begin this Monday, March 15 from 5-6pm.  This group is coached by: Nadja, Halley, and Jack

Mon/Wed/Fri JD's aged 12-14 begin this Monday, March 15 from 5-6pm.  This group is coached by Mette  (right now this group is for athletes in grade 7 and 8 - we will consider making it open to athletes in grade 6 as well IF there is room.  We won't know this until the first week of April so the grade 6's will train with the younger group for the time being).

We will go from 5-6 pm for the next two weeks, and then move to 5-6:30.   I will be there on Mon and Wed to collect registration forms as Lesley will be away for a couple of weeks.  Don't forget to email me your coaches bio's for inclusion in the monthly newsletter.   Just a reminder that attendance at practices in March tends to be low as many athletes are still playing soccer and it winds up at the end of March for most players.  Usually things really get rolling in the first week of April.

Let me know if there's anything you need.  See you Monday.  Here's to a great season!

Karen

Hi Parents and Athletes,

We have had a great start to the season!  Just a couple of things:

1 Please try to arrive right at 5:00 so we can get going right away,

if you arrive late and you see that the warm-up has begun, please join

in quickly so that you don't risk getting injured by not having warmed

up properly

2.  We will be practicing from 5-6:30 starting on Monday, March 22 (we

were going to do another week or ending at 6:00, but we have plenty of

light and the athletes have settled into the routines quickly).

3.  Practices are every Monday and Wednesday until the end of June (no

practice on Easter Monday or Victoria Day).

4.  Our first meet is coming up in less than a month.  Peninsula Track

and Field hosts the first meet of the season and it will be on

Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18.  All athletes who train with

the club are invited to participate (and athletes from other clubs on

the island will be coming too).  We will need lots of help so please

consider keeping that weekend free and making it a "family event!"

More details will be emailed soon.

5.  We are still accepting new registrations.  I will be at the track

on Monday and Wednesday next week and I will collect any registration

forms and $ to pass on to our registrar, Lesley Foster.  If your

children have any friends who would like to join track, please

encourage them to talk to me next week.

Please feel free to email me or chat to me at the track if you have

any questions.
