Grace:

  • Silver medal in the 400m and Bronze medals in the 100m and 200m at the BCJD’s
  • Third in the Best of Meets awards  in the Island Track Series

Jeff:

  • Gold medal in the Long Jump and a Silver medal in the 4 x 100m Relay at the BC Summer Games
  • A Bronze medal in the Long Jump at the BCJD’s

Track is a family affair:  All three are cheerful and helpful at practice and competitions. They did all club activities and most of the meets.  They all ran in the Sidney Days race and participated in the parade.  They all ran as a group in the Pioneer 8k. Halley helped out with younger athletes at practices. Addie and Tarryn helped Ravi coach his group by baby sitting Ravi’s kids at the practices.

 

Tarryn:

  • Competed in all possible events (13)
  • Attended 6 meets
  • Did six cross country runs including BC Championships
  • A Gold Medal in the Long Jump at the Dogwood Meet

 

Addie:

  • Competed in all possible events (15)
  • Attended 6 meets
  • Did seven cross country runs including BC Championships
  • A Silver Medal in the Triple Jump at the Dogwood Meet

 

Halley:

  • Tried 14 of the 17 possible events.
  • Attended 9 meets
  • Did six cross country runs including BC Championships
  • A Gold Medal in the Javelin at the Dogwood Meet
  • First in the 3000m and Javelin at the Alberni Meet

 

Fiona Clarke Sportsmanship Award for Males

THOMAS RIEKKI

 

Thomas:

  • A long list of firsts in several events
  • A gold medal in the 110H and a silver in the Long Jump at the BC Juvenile CHampionships
  • A Bronze medal in the Long Jump at the BC Junior Championships
  • Ranked 8th in Canada in the Long Jump in the Youth category.
  • Very dedicated and focused but still willing to help others at the practices and meets

 

Runner of the Year

STUART VAN CAMPEN

Stuart:

  • First in the Island Cross Country Series
  • Seventh at the BC Cross Country Championships
  • Contributed the most points to Pen Track’s Second Place in the Team competition
  • Competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 80m and 200m Hurdles.
  • Second in the 400m and 800m at the Duncan Meet

Jumper of the Year

NOLAN STUBBS

Nolan:

  • A Gold Medal in the Triple Jump and Bronze Medals in the High Jump and Long Jump at the BCJD Championships

 

Thrower of the Year

PETER ROOT

Peter:

  • Competed in 14 meets as a thrower in Shot Put, Discus and Hammer
  • Bronze Medals in the Discus and Hammer at the BC Junior Championships
  • Bronze Medal in the Discus at the BC Juvenile Championships
  • Ranked 9th in Canada in the Discus in the Youth category.

Peninsula Track Club Inspirational Award

DAN DANIELS

Dan: All the following took place within in a year and a half of a quadruple bypass. It shows his dedication to the sport of Athletics and the fact that it can be a life long activity.

  • Fourth in the Pentathlon at the World Masters Indoor Games in Linz, Austria
  • First in the Pentathlon at the BC Senior Games
  • Chef de Mission of Canada’s Team to the World Paralympic Games in Assen, Netherlands
  • Coach of Peninsula’s Track Rascals program
  • Resident Coach of the Pen Track Masters Group
  • Vice Chair of Athletics Canada
  • Helped coach athletes preparing for the BCJD Championships and the BC Summer Games.
