The Annual Peninsula Track BBQ was held at Centennial Park in Central Saanich. The weather was sunny but cool. Athletes and their families were fed corn, hotdogs, hamburgers, munchies and an array of salads and deserts.
At 4:30 there was an awards presentation:
1) Each JD athlete (age 9 to 15) was presented with a Certificate of Achievement from the club. In addition if they attained JD crest standards in at least three events, they were presented with the appropriate BC Athletics JD Crest. Finally, those athletes who competed in four or more meets in the Island series were presented with the VIAA Best of Meet and Run, Jump, Throw ribbons that they had earned in competition with athletes from all the Island clubs
2) Athletes of Juvenile age (16 and 17) and Masters athletes (40 + years) were then presented with Certificates of Achievement.
3) Certificates of Appreciation and gifts from the club were presented to the club's coaches (Eleanor Richardson, John Root, Emily Alderson, Greg Dingle, Brent Chomack, Leanor Davidson and Elissa Sunderland).
4) Certificates of Appreciation and gifts from the club were presented to other persons who had contributed to the club's activities during the year (Tom and Florence Dingle, Lesley and Derek Foster and Bob Richardson).
5) The club's trophies were presented to the winning athletes.
