The continuing activities of the Peninsula Track and Field Club depend on the help of volunteers!!

Volunteer positions span a variety of tasks, some of which are on a continuing basis and some of which occur at specific times of the year.

We welcome the assistance of anyone who is willing to help at any of the following tasks.

1) Coaching the athletes. If you like helping with and watching the development of our athletes this is a very rewarding duty. It does require commitment on a rgular basis. The club will pay for training. A great opportunity for older athletes who want to continue in the sport.

2) Officiating at meets. Pen Track, in collaboration with Vic Track, is responsible for hand timing and long jump officiating at the six meets in the Vancouver Island Track Series. If parents are attending a meet with their own kids then we expect them to help out in this respect. The club will pay for officiating clinics for those who wish to become more proficient.

3) Helping out at the meets hosted by Pen Track (Cross Country in February, two day meet in April, throws meet in May and Sidney 5km fun run/walk in July). Duties will be assigned near the time of the event.

Right now we are looking for one or two persons to help Vicky Leigh with the concession this year. This duty will involve planning and running the concession at our meets in 2008. The concession is one of the major extra sources of money for supporting club activities so we need someone who is keen and dedicated. Anyone interested, please contact Vicky Leight at 544-4814 or theleighs@shaw.ca

4) Serve on the executive of the Peninsula Track Club. This would involve attending meetings about once every month or two to discuss club activities and plan new new ones.

5) We need a new track and are planning to raise funds to build it!!

Peninsula Track and Field Club is seeking volunteers from among the members and parents to sit on the committee along with persons from the community to raise the funds for a new track. We would like persons who are committed for the longer term i.e. several years. If possible it would be nice to have someone with experience in large scale fund raising. If you are interested in sitting on this committee or know of someone who would be willing to do so, please contact Dan Daniels at 656-3669 or danmeister99@shaw.ca
