December 15: Hot Dog Night

About 35 athletes, parents and siblings had a great time. Many thanks to Lesley and Derek Foster and Florence Dingle who acted as hosts.

November 17: Final Standings in Island 2006 Fall Cross Country Series

14 Pen Track Athletes ran at least 3 races in the series and so qualified for Island Series Awards. Pen Track came FOURTH in the team standings. Complete Individual Standings --- Team Standings -- Pen Track Athletes Standings.

November 12: Arthur Taylor Cross Country Challenge - Beaver Lake Park, Victoria

The final race in the Island Cross Country Series. 11 Peninsula Track Athletes competed in soggy conditions. -- Complete results and photos

November 5: Bill English Cross Country Race - Rotary Bowl Park, Nanaimo

9 Peninsula Track Athletes competed. Complete Results

October 29: Peninsula Cross Country Challenge - Centennial Park, Central Saanich

20 Peninsula Track Athletes in a total of 68 athletes competed in beautiful fall weather with the leaves drifting down. Results for Pen Athletes

October 21: BC Cross Country Championships - Lambrick Park, Victoria

16 Peninsula Track Athletes competed in the Championships bringing home a 4th place, a 5th place and two 8th place finishes. Results for Pen Athletes

September 9: Peninsula Track BBQ and Awards Presentation

Over 100 members and friends celebrated a great year in Athletics with corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Trophies, Ribbons and Certificates of Achievement were given out to the athletes. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who made this year such a success. Awards details -- Photos

Aug 23 to Aug 26:
BC Seniors Games -- Abbotsford

Five Pen Track Seniors, ranging in age from 55 to 85, competed and brought home many medals. -- Complete Results -- Results for Pen Track Athletes

August 6: Vancouver Island Track and Field Series

Pen Track had a great year in the Island Track Series with many athletes winning Series awards including several first place finishes in both the Best of Meet series and the Run, Jump, Throw series. This year we get two monster team trophies as the Boys team came FIRST, the Girls team came THIRD and the club won the AGGREGATE Trophy.

July 27 to 30: BC SUMMER GAMES -- Kamloops -- July 27 to 30, 2006

FIVE Pen Track athletes were members of the Zone 6 team and won 1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze medal.

July 21 to 23: BC Junior Development (1997 to 1991) Championships -- Chilliwack

9 Pen Track Athletes competed at the championships and in spite of the extremely hot weather won 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 11 bronze medals in various events. Click here for Results for Pen Track Athletes -- Photos

July 15 and 16: BC Juvenile Championships (1989 and 1990) -- Abbotsford

July 08 and 09: BC Junior Championships (1987 and 1988) and Trevor Craven Meet -- Burnaby

5 Pen Track Athletes competed at the Trevor Craven meet with three of them trying for a place on the BC team going to the Canadian Junior Championships. Click here for Results for Pen Track Athletes -- Complete Results

July 5 and 6: Zone 6 Summer Games Team Camp -- Courtenay

The 5 Pen Track athletes who are part of the Zone 6 team: Shauna McInnis, Jeff Baker, Richard House, Mark McNeill and Aaron Quint, attended this intensive two day camp to prepare the Zone 6 team for the Summer Games. Pen throwing coach, John Root, two previous Summer Games Pen Track athletes, Peter Root and Thomas Rieki (who acted as coaches) and Zone 6 rep Tom Dingle helped run the camp. There were 36 other team athletse from Vancouver Island as well as the four team coaches/chaperones and several other coaches and helpers from the Island clubs. The Zone 6 team should do well at the Summer Games in Kamloops. Full details and photos will be posted later.

July 1: Sidney Days 5 km Run/Walk and 2 km Youth Run -- Sidney

170 competitors ran in our races on a perfect day, sunny and cool. A group of Pen Track athletes plus fellow athletes from the Nanaimo Club walked and ran in the Sidney Days parade following the race. June 24 and 25: Garriock Track and Field Meet -- Duncan

June 10 and 11: Bob Dailey Memorial Track and Field Meet

and Zone 6 Summer Games Trials -- Port Alberni

22 Peninsula Track Athletes competed including several midget athletes who were trying to qualify for the Zone 6 BC Summer Games team. FIVE Pen Track athletes were chosen to the team of 38. Results for Peninsula athletes. -- Complete Results -- Photos

June 4: VIAA PENTATHLON AND PENINSULA THROWS MEET -- Sidney

30 Pen Track athletes competed in rather poor weather along with 53 other athletes. Many thanks to everyone who helped out at the meet, particularly in setting things up in the rain. If anyone took photos during the meet and can transmit them electonically we would appreciate having them. Results

May 13 and 14: Dogwood Track and Field Meet -- Victoria

April 4 to 27: Peninsula Track Rascals

Thirty four 6 to 8 year olds participated in the 2006 Track Rascals program run by Dan Daniels and Tom Dingle. PHOTOS

April 22 and 23: George Dean Memorial Track and Field Meet - Sidney

Fantastic weather!! 272 athletes competing (up 100 from 2005) with 51 Peninsula athletes competing. Our thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this meet such a success. Final results and photos . Relay results now posted

March 28: Island Cross Country Series - Final Results

8 Peninsula Track Runners completed at least four of the races in the Island Series and came away with one first, two seconds, four thirds and a fourth place finish in the series. Peninsula Track came SECOND in the team competition. Awards will be given out at 1:15 pm on Saturday, April 22 at the George Dean Memorial Track Meet. Final Results

March 17: 2nd World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor 2006 - Linz - Austria

Track Rascals and Masters Coach, Dan Daniels, came FOURTH in his age group in the pentathlon. Results (. pdf file)

March 05: Peninsula Cross Country Challenge -- Centennial Park, Central Saanich

17 Pen Track Athletes competed. The predicted rain stayed up Island so the running conditions were close to ideal. Many thanks to all those volunteers who made the meet a success.
