Aug 25 to 27: BC Seniors Games -- Duncan

July 24 to 31: World Masters Games -- Edmonton
Four Pen Track Athletes attended the World Masters Games in Edmonton. In the M75-79 category Maurice Tarrant finished first in the 5000m , the 8000m Cross Country and the 1/2 Marathon. In the F65-69 category Sandy Anderson came second in the Weight Throw and Weight Pentathlon (both Canadian Records), High Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault and third in the Long Jump, Hammer and Javelin. In the M65-69 category Les East came third in the Hammer and in the F45-49 category Anne Murfitt was third in the Weight Throw. Click Here for complete results.

July 23 to 24: BC Juvenile Championships -- Abbotsford
Thomas Riekki came 2nd in the 110m hurdles (PB of 15.23 sec), 3rd in the long jump (5.77 m) and 4th in the triple jump (11.38 m). Peter Root came 5th in the hammer (PB of 48.72m) and 6th in the discus (36.14m).

July 15 to 17: BCJD Track and Field Championships
18 athletes competed at the Championships. Our athletes brought home 7 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 9 bronze medals as well as 33 ribbons (4th to 8th place). Results

July 1: Sidney Days 5km Run/Walk and 2km kids run
Results and Photos. It was a great success with 200 runners and walkers. Thanks to all those who donated draw prizes. Thanks to all those volunteers who helped make it a success.

June 11/12: Garriock Memorial Meet and BC Masters Championships -- Duncan

April 16 and 17: Bob Dailey Memorial Track Meet and Photos

18 Pen Track athletes competed at Port Alberni under rather difficult conditions (rain and wind) particularly on the Saturday. It was great seeing so many of our athletes at the meet and congratulations to all of them for their fine performances. Official results will be posted when we receive them from the Alberni club.

April 2 and 3: George Dean Memorial Track Meet
Results
51 Pen Track athletes competed in our meet along with 130 athletes from other clubs. Although cool and grey, the weather stayed relatively dry so everyone had a good time. Many thanks to the all the volunteers who made this meet such a success. Pen Track's Bobby Eng won the George Dean memorial 1500m for midget boys (1990 and 1991) .

March 9: Island Cross Country Series
The Cross Country Series is Finished. Four Pen Track athletes ran at least four races and were eligible for Series Awards. Jordan Cunningham and Dustin Sapala came First in their age group, while Mark McNeill came Second and Spencer Gaby came Third. Congratulations to all of them. March 6: Peninsula Cross Country Challenge

February 24: Vic Track and Pen Track Sprints and Hurdles Clinic
Six Pen Track Athletes and two coaches attended. Barb Vida brought along another coach training at the National Coaching Institute. He is from Burundi and his own speciality is triple jump. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot. Further clinics are scheduled for March 3 (sprints and high jump) and March 17 (sprints and triple jump). All athletes and parents are encouaraged to attend as this is a way to gain high level coaching in these events. Full details.

February 20: Victoria Track Cross Country Challenge
Nine Pen Track Athletes competed on a sunny but chilly day. Photos and Results
We stand at fifth in the team standings but a good turnout at our meet on March 6 could move us up to four or third.

February 16: Dan Daniels
Dan Daniels has been home for two weeks and is recovering nicely. He is now walking 3 kilometers a day.

| February 1: Dan Daniels at home
Our Track Rascals and Masters Athletes Coach, Dan Daniels, underwent open heart surgery last Thursday. Everything went well and he is recovering nicely. He came Tuesday. We wish him well and hope to see him back shortly.

| January 21-23: BC Athletics Annual General Meeting -- Richmond
Tom Dingle attended the AGM as Peninsula Track's delegate. He gave a 20 minute presentation on our Track Rascals Program. 9 members of Peninsula Track and Field Club manned the water stop for the Pioneer 8km race. It was cold and gloomy but there were lots of runnerws. Photos
