December 16: Pre-Christmas Get Together

Over 20 athletes plus 20 parents gathered at the Saanichton Fairgrounds Barn for a session of hot dogs, hot chocolate and goodies. From the volume of the sound everyone had a great time!

October 23: BC Junior Development Awards Banquet -- White Rock

Three Peninsula Track Athletes won awards: Dustin Sapala for Combined Events, Thomas Riekki for Combined Events and Hurdles and Peter root for Throws.

October 23: BC Cross Country Championships -- Crescent Beach

4 Pen Track Athletes competed in cool but sunny weather. Photos

October 3: Bazett Farms Cross Country

Seven Pen Track Athletes competed. There were 3 firsts, 2 seconds, a fourth and a sixth. Photos

September 26: Alberni Cross Country

Mark McNeill was the only Pen Track athlete to go to the Alberni Race. He came fourth in his age group.

September 18: Campbell River Cross Country

Dustin Sapala was the only Pen Track athlete to make the long trek north to Campbell River. He came first in his age group and picked up 25 valuable points for himself and for the club.

September 12: Peninsula Track and Field Club Annual BBQ

The weather was fine and everyone ate lots of corn, hot dogs and hamburgers. Certificates, JD crests, Island Track series awards and Club trophies were awarded. Many thanks to those volunteers who made it such a success.

September 12: Peninsula Plodders Half Marathon

Many Thanks to all the Pen Track volunteers, young and old, who helped man the water stops for this event.

September 1 to 4 : BC Seniors Games (55 yrs and older), Penticton

Seniors Athletes of Peninsula Track some records and won many medals. Details

August 15 : Final Results for Island Track Series Awards

Eighteen Peninsula Track athletes competed in at least four of the six Island meets and therefore are eligible for the VIAA Best of Meet and Run, Jump, Throw awards. Results for Peninsula Athletes. Click here Complete Results for the Island.

August 5 to 12 : Legion National Track and Field Championships , Sudbury, Ontario

Thomas Riekki of Pen Track is one of 40 BC Athletes attending. At the competition for 14 and 15 year olds on August 7 and 8, Thomas came FIRST in the 100m hurdles, FOURTH in the 300m hurdles, FIFTH in the 100m and was part of the fourth place 4 x 100m relay team . Complete Results.

July 23 to 25 : BD Junior Development Track and Field Championships , Kamloops

8 Pen Track Athletes brought home 8 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Three of them also had All Time Top Ten performances. Thomas Riekki was selected as one of the 15 BC fifteen year old athletes on the BC Team going to the Legion Camp in Sudbury. Results for Peninsula Athletes and Complete Results.

July 17 and 18: Canadian Masters Track and Field Championships , Calgary

Dan Daniels and Sandy Anderson from Pen Track competed. Results for Peninsula Athletes and Complete Results.

July 15 to 18: BC Summer Games, 2004 , Abbotsford

Hot! Hot! Hot! Three days of great track and field. Peninsula Track and Field members of the Zone 6th team performed splendidly, bringing home three gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Results for Peninsula Athletes and Complete Results for Athletics.

July 9 to 11: Canadian National Track and Field Championships and Olympic Trials , Victoria

Three days of great track and field. Several younger JD athletes took part in a demonstration of Athletics Canada's Run, Jump, Throw program at the stadium on Saturday. Several Peninsula Track Rascals were present at the Breakfast of Champions on Monday where Canada's Olympic Track and Field Team was announced (photo).

July 9 and 10: SportsFest for Disabled Athletes , Langley

Florence and Tom Dingle helped run and officiate at the track and field part of this competition for athletes who have cerebral palsy. Phots will be posted shortly.

July 6 and 7: Zone 6 summer Games Camp , Courtenay

Club members Romaie Martin, Thomas Riekki , Peter Root and John Minkley (new) attended along with Meghan Schaeffer, Cory Thomson and Kyle Seele, Zone 6 team members who have been training with the club. Throwing coach John Root was part of the coaching staff and Tom Dingle went as the Zone 6 representative for athletics. 43 athletes and 10 coaches had two days of hard workouts, technical sessions and fun! Most of the athletes commented on how much they had improved in their events.

July1: Sidney Days 5km Run/Walk, 2km Youth Run , Sidney

280 people ran or walked which is 100 more than last year! Complete results

June 26 and 27: BC Juvenile Championships , Abbotsford

3 Pen Track Athletes competed in a very tough field. Complete results and Pen Track Results

June 26: BC JD Pentathlon Championships , Nanaimo

8 Pen Track Athletes competed and came home with 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, 1 fourth place, and 2 sixth place ribbons. Complete results (these are revised from those posted at meet). Thomas Riekki and Dustin Sapala both had All Time Top Ten Placings in the Pentathlon and the Sprint Hurdles.

June 19 and 20: Bob Dailey Memorial Meet , Port Alberni

May 18 and 19: Complete Results Island High School Meet and School League

7 Pen Track Athletes competed at the Vancouver Island High School Championships with Thomas Riekki setting a new meet record in the 100m Hurdles. Click here for the Results for Peninsula Athletes .

May 15 : Sprint/Hurdles Clinic and Throws Clinic

Pen Track Athlete, Peter Root and Coach, John Root, along with 50 other athletes and coaches from the Islandattended the these two clinics hosted by the Comox Cougars.

May 8 and 9: Complete Results for Nanaimo Meet

April 29: Last Day of Track Rascals

A great day with 21 Track Rascals (of 22) doing the final events followed by the presentation of a certificate and a T-shirt to each participant. Click here for Photos

April 25: Times-Colonist 10 km Race

A glorious day with 3 athletes from Peninsula Track Club competing in the 10 km race and 13 members running in the 1.5 km Fun Run. Click here for Results and Photos

March 11: 1st World Masters Championships Indoors

Peninsula Track Coach and Athlete Dan Daniels came THIRD in the Pentathlon for males 75 to 79. Click here for details
